SECURITY

At the top of the range is the Cisco Secure PIX Firewall, offering all sizes of organisation a Firewall that is suitable for their security needs. For those organisations that wish to project their networks at various levels of security, Cisco PIX Firewalls offer "inside and outside" interfaces, plus additional security interfaces, such as several DMZ interfaces.

The DMZ interfaces can accommodate public WEB servers, allowing browsing of information, without being inside the corporate network. DMZ interfaces also allow for the receiving of emails into a quarantine area for virus checking, before being forwarded into the inside Corporate Network.

Cisco PIX Firewalls also come at a size that offers small organisations or branch offices i.e. 1-10 users, affordable security.

Cisco PIX Firewalls do not run on standard network operating system, or server platforms, but as a network appliance running on specific hardware, making hacking of the appliance far more difficult.

Additional features of the Cisco Secure PIX Firewall series include:

  • DES encryption for IPSEC
  • IPSEC Support
